The Myth of Tomorrow

Tomorrow has remarkable marketing. It keeps selling us a version of ourselves that somehow wakes up more disciplined than today's version.

Tomorrow is one of the most optimistic people you'll ever meet.

According to Tomorrow...

You'll wake up early.

Exercise enthusiastically.

Read for an hour.

Eat healthy.

Reply to every email.

Organise your finances.

And probably learn Spanish before lunch.

Tomorrow is incredibly ambitious.

The only problem is...

Tomorrow keeps sending Today to attend the meeting.

Habits don't change because the calendar does.

Midnight isn't a personality upgrade.

It doesn't quietly install Discipline 2.0 while you're asleep.

If something is worth doing tomorrow...

It's usually worth beginning badly today.

Read one page.

Walk for five minutes.

Write one paragraph.

Fold one shirt.

Tiny beginnings have an unfair advantage.

They actually happen.

Perhaps success belongs less to the people with extraordinary motivation...

...and more to those willing to look slightly unimpressive for a while.

Because consistency has never cared about impressive.

Only about repeated.
